Altra's known and trusted trail shoe is back with a new upper, whilst still providing the same comfortable underfoot protection, reliability and durability they are known for. Ripstop Mesh Upper The upper of the Lone Peak 8 has received an upgrade from the previous version. The shoes have been created with a ripstop mesh upper that increases their durability, keeping them protected from bumps and scrapes on the trail. This is also highly breathable, allowing vapour and built-up heat to escape keeping your feet feeling cool, dry and comfortable even when your run heats up. The flexible upper is made with seamless and stitch-less construction that allows you to run through wet and rainy conditions as the upper does not retain water, keeping you light on your feet. Not only this but the shoes have overlays across the toes for increased protection whilst drain ports improve the flow of water making the does ideal for trail running. The original foot-shape toe box remains and allows your toes to spread out more naturally, offering greater comfort and stability in uphill climbs and downhill descents. Increasing protection on uneven and rocky ground Altra have included a removable stone guard, that can be placed inside the shoe, with or without the insoles. Altra's gaitertrap technology has been included, this allows you to add your altar gaiters to the shoe effortlessly, from protection against mud and trail debris. Finishing the upper of the shoes is a lacing system that provides a more secure fit across the forefoot, reducing in-shoe slipping whilst heel loops make transporting muddy shoes indoors quick and easy. Altra EGO Midsole Like previous models, the Lone Peak 8 features an EGO midsole that adds plenty of cushioning and flexibility to the shoe making this ideal for trail running. Maintaining the same stack height of 25mm, the shoes offer the perfect amount of cushioning and durability in the midsole for a comfortable feel on any trail. The midsole contains many areas with features that provide the shoe with extremely responsive rebound and cushioning, as well as the standard EVA that also protects and rebounds. The cushioning sits directly underneath the foot, which reduces ground impact, returning the energy as a spring for each step that you take. The feet sit on the midsole on a Balanced Cushioning platform. This means the heel and the forefoot are the same distance from the ground, encouraging proper low-impact form throughout your trail run. Maxtrac Outsole Staying in complete control is crucial on the trails. The Lone Peak 8 features a Maxtrac outsole, giving you the confidence to run on any trail with ease. Offering increased grip and stickiness, no matter the weather you can tackle wet and dry trails with ease. The durable rubber provides the perfect combination of grip and traction, making volatile surfaces incredibly easy to defeat.
